Rehoboth Beach Resorts – Delaware Beach Vacations

Delaware is the second smallest state (#1 is Rhode Island) and is referred to colloquially as the "Small Wonder", "First State" and "Diamond State." Though the state is not a known travel hot-spot, Delaware has several beaches that are popular during the summer months. Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey, and Bethany Beaches, along with Fenwick Island all undergo a population boom from May to September. This article will focus on the most popular beach, Rehoboth Beach, and Rehoboth Beach resorts.

Rehoboth Beach resorts are gaining interest largely due to their location. Delaware is conveniently located two hours from Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Baltimore. Delaware is also a sales-tax free state, and many tourists come not only to vacation but to get their Christmas shopping done early. During the summer months, license plates from states like New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania are as common as Delaware plates due to the influx of visitors to the "Small Wonder." Rehoboth Beach resorts are popular due to their location, affordability, and due to the equally family and gay-friendly environment that Rehoboth Beach offers.

Rehoboth Beach Resorts – Gay-Friendly and Family-Friendly Fun On The East Coast

Rehoboth Beach has been referred to a "gay Mecca" due to its large gay and lesbian population. The resort area attracts additional gay and lesbian singles and couples during the summer months. Many are business owners and other professionals who own or rent properties within the city limits. Rather than stay in oceanfront hotels, many visitors to Rehoboth Beach rent a beach cottage for a week. The cost, approximately $2,000, is comparable with fees for a hotel stay for the same length of time.

Both gay and straight families enjoy the cleanliness and small-town feel of Rehoboth Beach. The city received the honor of "Best Boardwalk in America" in 2006 per Reader’s Digest. Rehoboth’s boardwalk is a carnival atmosphere by day and night. There are also many nightclubs and fine dining establishments to keep travelers entertained. Eden, Cloud 9, and Aspirations are just a few excellent restaurants. The cabana-style bar at La La Land is an intimate place for couples.

Rehoboth Beach offers many fine hotels both on the boardwalk, in town, and 5 minutes outside of town. Convenient shuttle service is available to bring guests of Rehoboth Beach resorts into the city and to the neighboring town of Dewey Beach. Rooms must be booked well in advance of the summer season due to their limited quality. Local realtors also should be contacted in advance for beach rentals as these also rent quickly. Finding lodging is the hard part. Once this is taken care of, you can ease into a relaxing and low-key vacation in Rehoboth Beach.
