Learn French In School And Benefit Later

When you begin your college education, you might not think of signing up for language classes right away. But the truth is that it can be very useful to learn French in school. Of course, it depends on the type of career that you are looking to obtain after college. But being bilingual can actually be “a foot in the door” when submitting applications to many companies. More and more French based companies are setting up offices in the U.S. and knowing the language can be a big advantage.

There are also several other useful reasons to learn French in school. One of these reasons is actually, believe it or not, to improve your English skills. Around 40 to 50% of our English vocabulary actually comes from the French language. Studying French can help you to enhance your grammar skills. Increasing your proficiency in English can help you when you are taking the verbal part of tests like the ACT or the SAT. Learning French can also help you with your creativity and can help you improve your memory skills. Studying the French vocabulary, French grammar and having to learn how to conjugate a French verb will help develop memory skills. Learning a new language, such as French, can also help build self-esteem, as well as the development of self-discipline skills.
