Hit The Open Highway On Your Next Vacation With A Road Trip

By Travel Editor

In this article, the author shares with us some crazy road trip ideas ...

You probably won't find too many folks who despise road trips. I think most of us love to hit the open highway with a tank full of gas and a map in our hands. Okay, well it's not exactly like that anymore. These days we typically have GPS systems and it always makes for a nicer trip if we have a comfortable, roomy vehicle and a wallet full of cash. Yeah, that sounds about right to me. Now, who's to say where the road trips will lead. We all have different places we wish to visit. You know, the ones that get us all excited and make us want to spend our lives on the highway, living in the moment. Do you feel it yet?

Ah, what cool and adventurous road trips are on the schedule for this year? Are you planning a big trip to Iowa or Kansas? Yeah now we're talking. These places are the cream of the crop. Get it? The cream of the crop? Iowa has the whole corn thing going on. Oh, never mind. Anyway, I seriously doubt anyone is all stoked about heading to the heartland. Most folks have other destinations in mind when it comes to contemporary road trips and sight seeing. Let me take a guess at a few destinations that may be on your list. Here we go; Manhattan, San Francisco, San Diego, New England, Savannah, Miami, Las Vegas, The Florida Keys, and Washington D.C. Does that touch on a few?

Okay, so maybe you can't drive to The Keys. I've never been down there myself. Anyway, I think folks tend to have a lot of the hot spots in mind when it comes to road trips these days. I can tell you a few that I took and really enjoyed. First of all there was Savannah, Georgia. This place is amazing and will appeal to anyone who goes for the small, Southern town feel, but with a wealthy atmosphere and tons of amenities. It's a beautiful destination to check out. Another one that I found similar is Charleston, South Carolina. This is a must-see in my book. Finally there is Portland, Oregon. This is my favorite city because it has it all, but without the smog and filth.

So, are you up for some crazy road trips? Get on the web right now and investigate a little before just piling into the car. Find out what the hot spots are this year and which areas you may want to avoid. Our wonderful country offers endless possibilities when it comes to exciting road trips. Which parts have you seen?
