Travel Accommodation Tips - Finding Affordable Vacation Rentals

Some of the most relaxing times while away from home can be found in vacation rentals at your favorite resort. Whether on the ocean shore or in the secluded mountains, vacation rentals can offer cost savings as well as conveniences not found in many hotels and motels. In most cases families using the motel will need at least two rooms if older children are along for the trip, and cooking is taboo in most motels, and getting everyone out the door to the restaurant at the same time can be frustrating.

With most vacation rentals, there can be a separate bedroom for everyone and with kitchen and laundry facilities, the price of eating out for every meal can be a huge savings. While on vacation the average family of four will need about $300 a week for food they prepare themselves and if they do not want to reload their suitcases with dirty clothes, washing them while in vacation rentals can even save time when they get home.

Motels at seaside resorts can cost about $1,000 a week and vacation rentals for a three bedroom can run around $2,000 a week. While the motels may seem to be winning the financial edge, consider the cost of two rooms and the cost of four people dining at restaurants three meals a day, everyday. The cost of the rooms alone will make up the money spent on vacation rentals and the convenience of having the family together under one roof is another plus.

Rentals Offer Opportunity To Travel Light

Another advantage of vacation rentals is not having to pack more than you would if staying in a motel. Most rental properties are complete with everything needed for cooking as well as linens such as bed sheets and blankets along with towels for the beach and the bathrooms. Many also include additional comforts such as private pools and hot tubs, which would be filled with strangers at a motel.

There is also no need to head to the store and stock up on food before leaving for the trip as many areas in which vacation rentals are located are near to stores where everything you need can be purchased upon arrival. Depending on the length of the trip, you may want some snacks and drinks for the car ride, but packing an ice chest for perishables will not be necessary. This also makes packing and unpacking the car easier and less time consuming.
